What is the recommended maintenance of your top gun covers?

According to Marchem, the manufacturer of Top Gun Canvas, the following procedure is recommended for cleaning your top:

For general soiling and/or mild mildew mix 2 ounces of non-detergent soap and 4 ounces of chlorine bleach to one gallon of water. Pre-soaking in a barrel of this same mix will greatly help. For more stubborn stains, a mild detergent may be needed. However, the use of detergent may require that a water repellent be applied after the fabric is thoroughly rinsed and dried. AQUA-TITE water repellent is the recommended product to use.

Is crevice corrosion under an NR warranty?

Each warranty claim is evaluated on an individual basis but crevice corrosion is a by product of using your boat in salt water and not thoroughly cleaning it prior to storage. This allows salt water to sit and eat away at your boat. If you use your boat in saltwater you should always wash it thoroughly with freshwater afterward. If you are going to moor your boat in saltwater you should have the bottom painted with anti-fouling paint to protect it from saltwater corrosion.

For a river boat is .250 aluminum enough for the hull?

In the last 25 years we have only seen holes in our bottoms 3-4 times and those were a direct result of a very serious collision so the answer is yes. For normal jet boating with a single engine jetboat the .250 bottom and even the .190 bottom in our smaller jetboats performs well and will provide a lifetime of use.

Does Northriver make the radar/fish towers or are they mfg by another company?

North River manufactures our own radar archs but we also offer archs and towers made by Samson and Wake Air.

What is the fuel consumption of both 5.7 and 6 litre engines in a 21'6 commander at 30 mph and at max rpm

Fuel consumption can vary greatly based on load but the estimated fuel consumption of the 5.7 liter at 30mph is 10 gph and 22 gph at wide open throttle. The the estimated fuel consumption of the 6.0 liter at 30mph is 12 gph and 28+ gph at wide open throttle.

I own a 2005 commander and live in Sacramento CA. Should I winterize my engine somehow? I use the boat several times during the winter.

No. Your engine is self winterizing.

What is the best/cleanist fish storage system for a 22' commander?

It has been our experience that using a 150qt cooler on the swin deck provides the easiest and cleanest solution but if you have a suggestion or something that you would like us to try, please feel free to let us know.

Is the 150hp motor enough for the 21' Seahawk?

Yes, depending on load, a 150HP motor performs very well on our 21' Seahawk. If you are going to be carrying a large amount of gear as well as a full compliment of passengers then you may want to consider upgrading to a larger motor.

I am interested in an 18' Seahawk but I can not find any performance specs. What is the top speed with a Yamaha 115? 150? Will I be able to tow tubes, skis, wakeboard, etc. with the wife and kids when I am not fishing? Thank you

An 18'6" Seahawk with a Yamaha F115 will have a top speed of approximately 38MPH and makes a great fishing boat. If you want to be able to tow your kids around the lake and enjoy the best of both worlds then we would recommend going with a 20' Seahawk and an F150.

Can I buy replacement bolt on bow and stern rails as well as NR seats for my 2000 Ranger/Commander?

Absolutely! Navigate to our dealer page and contact your nearest dealer. Any  of our factory stores can order those parts for you and install them as well.

What is the best type of cover to get for a 21' Seahawk?

The best cover is the mooring cover made by North River. If that is not an option go to your local canvas shop and have one made to fit your boat.

Can all of the interior carpet be left out of a 21' Seahawk? I think this would be best for a saltwater enviorment.

Yes, just ask for this option when ordering your boat.

What is better on a boat, paint or vinyl?

There is no right or wrong answer. Paint gives you a richer and classier look, where as vinyl gives you more of a utilitarian feel and offers the flexibility of different color choices in the future.

Does North River offer a paint warranty?

North River offers a 2 year limited warranty against peeling and fading, and a 1 year limited warranty against corrosion (above the water line only).

Does North River manufacture their own canvas tops?

Yes, all of the canvas tops are done in house.
