Why North River?
Tim,
Let me start by saying it’s not in my nature to compliment people for doing their jobs. That being said, I want to let you know about my SRM experience. Last year I got the bug to get another boat after a 15 year layoff. There are no dealers in Merced. The “big” dealer in Modesto carries Crestliner with Merc motors. Nice boats…if you like rivets and plexiglass. I read about NR and Ducks and Design Concepts and Boultons from the FSniffer boards. As you know, all the NR owners are diehard fans. That got my attention. I went to a couple of shows, one of which I met Tak. That guy knows his stuff. After exchanging 20 or 30 emails where we discussed size, options, and financing, I finally bought a small Seahawk LE last March. Just so you know, 25k for a fishing boat is a BIG chunk of change for me.
I bought that boat for 3 reasons.
1) Personal inspection of the product at the boat shows.
2) NR owner testimonials on FSniffer
3) Tak
After a season on the water I realized I should have listened to Tak about a kicker. That 3k add-on was completed today. I can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciate being able to email Tak, get a price, arrange a pickup date, show up, flip out a plastic card, and have the motor loaded. Slick. But it gets better..
Ron was on the counter today. I like to do stuff myself. Sometimes I save a few bucks…sometime I bugger it up...maybe you know how that goes…… I asked Ron, “What do I need to rig this T8”. He could have said…”Bring it in” (oh yah, drag that sucker 250 miles round trip) or “you need to talk to the rigger, he is off today”. Instead, he took me out on the floor and showed me what I needed. Gave me some advice and tips and comped me a rubber boot and brass fuel line fitting. I ended up gladly spending another $200 for misc. parts.
Your staff “gets it”.
Thanks!

I went fishing last weekend and had some problems with my T8 kicker. On Monday I decided to drop it off before work and thought I was wishful thinking that I might get it back before the following weekend. I was in and out in 30 minutes and they replaced my Digi Troll. I didn't make an appointment but they dropped what they were doing and had me on my way. The service guy (not Bryan) said "anyone can sell you boat, it's what they do after you get it". I work in the service industry and I can tell you they (NRM) went above and beyond on this one. By the way, the shop was full of boats and a bunch of new motors had just arrived, so they were busy. Tak came out to shake hands and shared some fishing updates. Just a bunch of great guys selling a great product and service to boot!

Clients often ask my why did I get a North River Scout. I tell them first and foremost I think of their comfort and safety when I want a new boat. I especially liked that I could get the sled with the specs I wanted and knew from other North Rivers that my clients would have a better ride to help make their day of fishing with me a more enjoyable trip.
My North River Scout is driest and most comfortable riding Boat I have ever operated.
