North River Boats, Inc, headquartered in Roseburg Oregon, responds to changing market conditions by focusing on a strong commercial market. North River Boats has recently been awarded two large commercial contracts as well as numerous smaller commercial contracts. As a result North River Boats has decided to dedicate more resources to increasing our market share in the commercial sector. North River Boats has clients in the local and state government levels as well as a strong presence in obtaining and fulfilling military contracts. North River Boats will continue to manufacture and service boats in the recreational market, maintaining their status as a market leader in the recreational area.
“A combination of efficiencies gained and technology improvements have allowed us to build an increased number of boats with fewer employee resources,” explains owner Brian Brush. “With the nature of the typical commercial vessel being bigger and taking more time to build, these gains support an increase in production output with a reduced labor force.”
While North River Boats has not currently experienced a reduction in demand for their recreational models, it is expected the recreation market will soften during the summer months as a result of the expected closure of the salmon fisheries off the California and Oregon coasts. “The recreation market is closely tied to the availability of healthy and viable fishing opportunities. With the reduction of fishing opportunity comes the inevitable reduction in recreation boat sales, “ Brian Brush states.
North River Boats’ quick response to the anticipated negative trend in the recreation market has allowed the company to re-focus on the commercial market and the company is expected to maintain profitability throughout 2008.
