From Content Creator to Captain: Living the Ultimate Dream on a North River Hard Top
When your office has rod holders, panoramic views, and a wake trailing behind you, you know you’re doing something right. For Chris Probst; content creator, charter captain, and passionate angler that dream became a reality aboard his 25-foot North River Hard Top.
Chris recently launched his fishing charter business in the San Francisco Bay Area, and he’s doing it in style on a 2024 North River that he picked up alongside earning his captain’s license. With a deep love for fishing rooted in his childhood, Chris began filming his adventures in 2019, sharing the excitement with a growing YouTube audience on his channel, Chris P Fish Charters. That passion, paired with a community eager to join him on the water, inspired him to take the leap into full-time chartering.
“It doesn’t even feel like work,” Chris says, grinning in a recent video. “The days fly by, and you actually look forward to waking up every morning.” His North River has become more than a boat—it’s the backbone of his business and the vessel through which he shares unforgettable moments with clients, many of whom are experiencing ocean fishing for the first time.

At the heart of his operation is the North River Seahawk HARD TOP, a boat built to thrive in serious conditions. Designed for year-round use, the Hard Top model offers full protection from the elements without compromising visibility, deck space, or versatility. Whether you’re navigating coastal chop, exploring inland rivers, or running offshore for tuna, this boat is engineered to handle it all with confidence. The welded aluminum hull is rugged and reliable, and the extended hard top with full windows keeps anglers dry, comfortable, and in command in all weather.
Chris praises the boat’s spacious layout, smooth ride, and top-tier construction. “I’ve been on other 25-foot boats, and they just don’t feel as open,” he notes. “This boat easily fits several people and still feels roomy. The build quality is incredible it’s wild to think it all starts from raw metal.” He also highlights his favorite onboard features like the Garmin electronics package for precise navigation and fishfinding, Burnewiin mounts for versatile gear management, and the game-changing addition of autopilot. “Once you have it, you never want to go without it,” he adds.

On one recent outing, Chris and his crew even picked up a stray balloon floating in the ocean, doing their part to protect the waters they love. Minutes later, they landed a halibut. “Karma’s on our side,” he laughs. Moments like these connection, conservation, and catch are what define the North River lifestyle.
We’re proud to see Chris turning his passion into a profession with North River at the helm. Whether you’re a weekend warrior or chasing fish full-time, his story is a reminder of what’s possible when you follow your love for the water.
